Questions that you might have…
- Parking
- Available on site – please follow the directional signage and car parkers to the correct area
- Changing Facilities
- Please note that you WILL get very wet and muddy – please bring a change of warm clothes and shoes, baby wipes, and a towel for the journey home.
Please note that we will provide you with a British Heart Foundation T Shirt to compete in – long sleeves and leg coverings are recommended. Please note that you will be very muddy at the end of the course so please don’t wear anything that you do not want to get filthy!
Please note that there are NO dedicated changing rooms or showers at the venue
Please note that whilst you are welcome to leave your clothes and bags in the Grandstand Hall as a bag drop area, Newcastle Racecourse can accept no liability for loss or damage to any items left unattended. It is recommended that you do not bring valuables with you and that any items are left either with spectators or locked in your car.
- Footwear
- Please ensure that you wear appropriate footwear for a muddy multi terrain course with obstacles and that your trainers are securely fastened! It is recommended that you secure your shoes to your feet with gaffer tape.
In the interests of safety – no running spikes are allowed
- Outer Garments
- If you wish to wear a jumper or jacket prior to the race, please feel free to leave these in receptacles provided at the start line. We will transport these to the finish line for you to collect at the end of the race. (Please note that we can accept no liability for any items lost or damaged)
- T Shirts
- The British Heart Foundation have kindly provided us with official T Shirts for competitors to run in. These can be collected during the registration process.
- Toilets
- Toilets are located prior to the race in the Grandstand and Paddock Foyer (where you will register)
- Food and Drink
- There are plenty of food and drink outlets inside and also in Gosforth Park all serving delicious local food and drink – keep checking the website to see what’s available!
- Photography
- We will be taking photographs of the runners on the way round which may be used by the organisers of the Newcastle Stampede for marketing purposes. You will also be able to purchase the photographs from the official photographer after the event – details including the website code are included in your goodie bag
- Timing Chips
- These will be issued at registration – please ensure that you sign your chip back in at the finish line so we can gather your race times and present you with your goodie bag, medal and bottle of water
- Obstacle opt out
- You can choose to opt out of any of the obstacles on route if you do not feel comfortable tackling it.
- Water on Route
- There will be water stations on route but please try and put your rubbish in the receptacles provided to keep Gosforth Park clean and tidy! A bottle of water is also available at the finish line in your goodie bag for every participant.
- Spectators
- Spectators are very welcome but a few points to remember are as follows:
- The viewing area for spectators is situated some 300 meters away from the car park – you will be able to see the start and the finish of the race from here and cheer on the competitors.
- There are toilet and cafe facilities located in the main grandstand
- Please dress appropriately for the weather! The racecourse is very exposed to the elements.
- Safety
- For your safety, stewards and Marines will be on hand at the various points throughout the course and at the obstacles. Please follow their advice and guidance at all times. If you need help during an obstacle or during the course, please make this known to the steward.
Please don’t go ‘off piste’ and follow the official route at all times to ensure your safety. This is clearly marked with directional arrows and tape.
Please don’t wear an I Pod or portable music device or watches/equipment that are not water proof– you may not be aware of steward’s instructions and it will get wet!!
A 4 x 4 first aid vehicle and trained crew will be provided for the event. If you need assistance, please make this known to a steward who will be able to get you help as soon as possible.
Please ensure you complete the emergency details on the back of your race number prior to the event.
If you fail to finish, please advise a marshal at the finish line so we know that you are safe.
