Event information

With the date fast approaching until the Newcastle Stampede 2015, we hope your training has been going well and you are now fully prepared for the Wet and Muddy Sunday morning ahead! Please be reminded of the below important information about the race.

Clothing

We recommend you wear a set of old clothes for the race and bring along a change of clothing for after the race as you will get muddy! The British Heart Foundation will have their clothing donation banks onsite – if you have any unwanted items – clothing, accessories, books and music etc which you would like to donate,  please bring them along on the day. They will help towards raising vital funds for this fantastic cause.

Gaffer taping your trainers to your feet is highly recommended, unless you want to run half the course bare foot!

Race Starting Times:

Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your selected starting time, remember to come prepared with your timing chip, and race number – please complete the back of your race number with your emergency contact details and any necessary medication information.

T-Shirt Collection

We will have all T-shirts in various sizes available on the day for you to collect when your arrive in the Grandstand Hall

Registration Packs

Packs with timing chip, race number and sponsorship information are still yet to be sent out they will arrive one week prior to the event, if you have any queries in the mean time please contact Deborah Macdonald on 0191 2362020 or via email dmcdonald@newcastle-racecourse.co.uk

Please note: Mini Stampede – Packs will not contain timing chips as this is not a timed race.

Traffic Management

The east gate will be closed to all traffic from 8am and traffic will be diverted to the west gate entrance.

Car Parking Facilities

Car parking is free for all participants and spectators, stewards will be on position to direct you to Car Park B.

The front section of this car park will be dedicated to disabled customers, access to this car park is on production of an official blue badge.

Spectators

We encourage you to bring along spectators to cheer you on, we have spectator viewing available at the start and finish lines.

The disabled viewing area is located to the left hand side of the finish line on the tarmac area.

Bag Drop Facility

We have a cloakroom facility available on the day for any valuables such as phones, keys etc or they can be left with your spectators. We recommend you bring only necessary items with you on the day.

Food & Drink Facilities

We have food and drink facilities onsite in the Grandstand hall available from 8.00am – 2.00pm for all participants and spectators to purchase.

Adult Stampede 10K

7.00am – Cafe Open

Elite Runners Registration 7.30am – 8.00am. Warm up at 8.15am and rolling start from 8.30am.

Intermediate Runners Registration 8.00am – 9.00am. Warm up at 8.45am and rolling start from 9.00am until 11.00am.

Fun Runners Registration 9.00am – 10.00am. Warm up at 9.50am with rolling start from 10.00am until 11.00am.

12.00pm onwards – Refuel and Relax

 

Mini Stampede 1 Mile Obstacle Course

Varsity Registration (10-15 years old only) 11.30am – 12.00pm. Warm up at 12.00pm and rolling start from 12.20pm.

*Runners will be released in waved intervals of 5 minutes.*

*Varsity Stampeders MUST have consent form signed by an adult in order to take part.*

 

Junior Stampede 1 Mile Obstacle Course

Junior Registration (5-9 years old only) 12.00pm – 12.15pm. Warm up approx. 12.30pm and rolling start approx. from 13.00pm.

*Junior Stampeders MUST be accompanied by an adult and will receive 2 x identical race numbers (one for adult and one for child)*

*Please note: No timing chips will be used for the Mini Stampede*

Adult Stampede 10K

7.00am – Café Open

Elite Runners Registration 7.30am – 8.00am. Warm up at 8.15am and rolling start from 8.30am.

Intermediate Runners Registration 8.00am – 10.00am. Warm up from 8.45am with rolling start from 9.00am until 10.00am

Fun Runner Registration 10.00am – 12.00pm. Warm up from 10.45am with rolling start from 11.00am until 12.15pm

12.00pm onwards – Refuel and Relax

Please note that there will be no places available on the day. Places for each time slot are strictly limited so sign up early to avoid disappointment.

Safety

For your safety, Stewards and Marines will be on hand at the various points throughout the course and at the obstacles. Please follow their advice and guidance at all times. If you need help during an obstacle or during the course, please make this known to the Steward, feel free to opt out of any obstacles if you do not feel comfortable with it.

Please don’t go ‘off site’ and follow the official route at all times to ensure your safety. This is clearly marked with directional arrows and tape.

Please don’t wear an i-pod or portable music device or watches/equipment that are not water proof– you may not be aware of steward’s instructions and it will get wet!!

A 4 x 4 first aid vehicle and trained crew will be provided for the event. If you need assistance, please make this known to a steward who will be able to get you help as soon as possible.

Please ensure you complete the emergency details on the back of your race number prior to the event.

If you fail to finish, please advise a marshal at the finish line so we know that you are safe.
